Summary
Vishnu Cuddapah, MD, PhD, is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician II to join his lab at Baylor College of Medicine on a funded project at the intersection of neurodevelopmental disorders, sleep, and seizures. The Cuddapah Lab has developed an assay leveraging Drosophila to screen for FDA-approved compounds that improve seizures and sleep. The technician will conduct these experiments using well-established techniques and play an important role in drug repurposing for medically intractable epilepsies. Job Duties
-Maintains Drosophila lines.
-Prepares and conducts video tracking assays using Drosophila.
-Collects, compiles, and analyzes data using established MATLAB or Python scripts.
-Documents result of experiments in laboratory notebooks.
-Conducts these experiments using well-established techniques and play an important role in drug repurposing for medically intractable epilepsies.
-Contributes to biomedical research in a collaborative and intellectually stimulating environment.
-Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
-No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
-Prior experience using Drosophila or other fly models.
-Familiarity with Python or MATLAB.
