This role of Associate Director, Access Metro Infrastructure, provides strategic leadership for the Access Transport network’s facilities infrastructure, coordinating planning, governance, and cost optimisation to support business objectives. Reporting to the Senior Director, it drives end-to-end alignment between Fibre, Optics, IP, and CE Access teams on facilities usage, manages the access budget across NBN, TEBA and fibre duct leasing, and owns the removal of legacy infrastructure to achieve cost efficiency. The role also collaborates closely with Property teams to ensure all contracts, lease agreements, and facility arrangements are effectively managed to enable seamless deployment of access network platforms.

The day to day

-Provide strategic leadership and direction for Access Transport network facilities infrastructure, ensuring effective planning, governance, and cost optimisation.
-Lead and coordinate matrix teams across Access Transport planning to align facilities strategy, legacy infrastructure removal, and high-risk vendor exit programs with business priorities.
-Coordinate budget planning and approvals for TEBA, duct leases, and NBN facilities, ensuring efficient utilisation and execution.
-Drive and supervise legacy and high-risk vendor equipment removal programs, ensuring coordination and progress visibility across planning and deployment teams.
-Partner with the Property team to manage contracts, lease agreements, and facility arrangements supporting network platform deployment.
-Develop and maintain cost models and unit cost metrics to reduce total cost of ownership and optimise access facility usage.

-Strong cross-functional collaboration skills to align Architecture, Deployment, Finance, Regulatory, and Vendor teams toward shared outcomes.
-Proven expertise in program governance, managing large-scale AOP programs to deliver on time, within budget, and to specification.
-In-depth knowledge of Access Network architecture, including Carrier Ethernet, IP, clocking/sync technologies, and associated NMS platforms.
-Proficiency in capacity and performance planning to forecast, monitor, and optimise network capacity against CX and performance KPIs.
-Strong financial understanding with experience in cost modelling, unit cost analysis, and driving TCO reduction through effective budget management.
