An Automotive General Manager oversees all aspects of a car dealership's operations, including sales, service, parts, and finance, to ensure profitability and customer satisfaction . Key responsibilities include setting strategic goals, managing financial performance, hiring and supervising management teams, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining positive relationships with customers and staff. The role requires strong leadership, communication, financial acumen, and in-depth automotive industry knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic goals, promotional events, and business plans to drive sales and profitability. Financial Management: Oversee daily operations, review financial statements, manage budgets, and ensure the financial health of the dealership. Sales and Marketing: Analyze sales performance, set sales goals, motivate sales teams, and oversee inventory management for new and used vehicles. Customer Satisfaction: Implement policies and procedures to ensure high customer satisfaction ratings and resolve customer issues. Staff Management: Hire, train, and supervise department managers (sales, service, parts, and finance). Operations Oversight: Ensure all departments operate efficiently, comply with company policies and procedures, and maintain high standards of service and vehicle maintenance. Regulatory Compliance: Maintain expert knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations impacting dealership operations and ensure compliance across all departments.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience: Proven track record in automotive sales and leadership roles, often progressing from a General Sales Manager position. Leadership: Ability to motivate teams, foster a positive work environment, and lead confidently. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with employees, customers, vendors, and management. Business Acumen: Deep understanding of automotive industry trends, sales processes, and market conditions. Technical Proficiency: Ability to use dealership management systems and learn new technologies related to the automotive industry
