SUMMARY
:
  Assist the store manager in supervisory decisions that are consistent with Town Pump standards, policies, and procedures.  Assist in achieving and maintaining competitive product pricing, inventory controls, buildups, merchandise levels, store appearance, store cleanliness, product dating, controlling outdated merchandise, maintaining signage, product promotions, invoicing, maintenance, tobacco area maintenance, shelf tags, and vendor control. Set the proper example for co-workers in terms of professionalism, attitude, and teamwork in the areas of customer service and store operations.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

-Interact with the public, providing exceptional customer service.
 

-Conduct new employee orientation and training.  Promote the continued development of all employees.
 

-Objectively document performance and assist with evaluations.
 

-Conduct daily walk-throughs; effectively prioritize, organize, delegate, and follow up on tasks to be accomplished.
 

-Maintain professional relationships with vendors and coworkers.
 

-Order merchandise from multiple vendors, using proper build-ups.
 

-Check-in vendors per check-in policy.
 

-Put away the order once cross-reference is complete, watching for mis-picks, wrong pack sizes, and broken/opened merchandise.   
 

-Identify, correct, and maintain accurate pricing on inventory (daily if necessary), including downloading price changes from Passport, cooler pricing, markups/downs, white tagging items, updating product tag numbers, and tracking updated and discontinued items.
 

-Maintain back stock at a minimum level.
 

-Refresh and download handheld devices.
 

-Keep product rotated, and fresh, and check expiration dates.
 

-Follow markup/mark-down procedures to include store shelves on the floor, as well as the coolers.
 

-Return guaranteed items to the correct vendors weekly.
 

-Follow Town Pump display standards to build attractive and creative displays in available spaces.
 

-Maintain displays and signage and cross-merchandise items.
 

-Compile and promote top-seller lists with corporate merchandisers. 
 

-Set per schematic (aid from vendors) as directed by corporate merchandisers.
 

-Maintain proper usage and ordering of all DSD displays, gondola sections, etc.
 

-Properly complete CMI scanning. 
 

-Maintain correct and complete promo signage, both inside and outside the store (reader boards, pump toppers, handle ads, building signage, banners, inside sales, etc.).
 

-Properly track and transfer merchandise between locations.
 

-Keep counter, shelves, and stocked areas neat, clean, and well-signed.
 

-Maintain tobacco area, including ads, merchandise, compliance contracts, product dating, etc.
 

-Conduct market surveys as required.
 

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES

 

-Train store employees on grocery merchandiser duties as directed by the store manager.
 

-Perform all cashier duties as described in the cashier job description.  
 

-Other duties as assigned by management
 

Qualification Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
or
one to three months related experience and/or training;
or
equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience in supervision and retail operations with a strong background in sales and marketing is a plus.
